Blocks (or Parts) are one of the core features of Build A Boat For Treasure. They are items used by the Building Tool to construct boats; which, in turn, can be saved, then loaded, by a Saving Slot. Blocks are primarily obtained from the Shop and Chests. However, some blocks can also be obtained in other ways, such as Quests or events.
As of February 2024, there have been a total of 196 blocks introduced to the game and made obtainable at some point in time. This figure includes obtainable blocks now, unobtainable, and removed (which includes now-hatched eggs and now-opened gifts). Without including removed blocks, players can have up to 160 types of blocks in game at the same time.

Categories[]
In-game[]
The game separates blocks into 3 main categories:
- Material: Includes plain blocks like the Wood Block, Rods (0.5x1.5x0.5 versions like the Wood Rod), the Wedge, the Corner Wedge and the Truss.
- Decoration: More decorative blocks like Plushie 1, Mast, Steering Wheel, Chests, Doors, and most Seats.
- Ability Block: Functional parts like Thrusters, Harpoons, Fireworks, Weapons, Car/Plane Items, Cameras, Candies and Jetpacks.
Wiki[]
This wiki separates blocks further into the following categories:
- Materials: Blocks which can merge together into a larger block, they can use with Scaling Tool to build any shapes. An example of a material block is the Wood Block.
- Note this wiki reclassifies some blocks which the game considered as "Materials" as follows:
- the Wedge, and the Corner Wedge as "Decoration".
- The Truss as "Ability Block"
- Rods: Blocks which are 0.5x1.5x0.5-size versions of Material blocks, but cannot be merged. An example of a rod is the Wood Rod.
- Note this wiki reclassifies some blocks which the game considered as "Materials" as follows:
- Decorations: Unique blocks which do not serve a function beyond aesthetic value. An example of a decoration is the Mast or the Helm.
- Note this wiki reclassifies some blocks which the game considered as "Decorations" as follows:
- The Sign, The Pumpkin 2, Doors/Hatches and the Seats except the Car Seat and the Pilot Seat as "Ability Block"
- Chest Blocks: A family of blocks which have a small possibility of being given to the player when purchasing any type of chest. An example is the Common Chest Block.
- Ability Blocks: Blocks with a special ability, such as a Thruster (gives thrust force) or the Magnet (attracts nearby blocks). Several ability blocks share the same ability. These families are as such:
Note that not all ability blocks are part of a family. The wiki also assigns special, mutually inclusive categories to certain blocks based on their availability:
- Event Items: Items available for a limited time and/or open to reveal a block. An example are the 2018 Christmas Presents which opened to reveal Neon Block, Dual Candy Cane Harpoons, and Winter Jets.
- Unobtainable Items: Items that were obtainable at some point in time, but the methods to do so have since been removed. The items themselves are not considered removed, as they can still be seen in normal gameplay if a player happens to own one of these items. For example, the Star.
- Removed Items: Items completely removed from the game. Eggs and gifts are considered removed after they open to reveal their item. An example is the Tall Present.
Strength[]
See also: Block Comparison Table
Every block has "strength", or hitpoints. These determine how many times it can damage or destroy obstacles before being destroyed itself. The weakest material is Wood Block (1), and the strongest is the Huge Wheel (40). A block's strength can be seen in the Building Tool.
Technically, Shield Generators (20 hit points each) can achieve a higher total amount of hit points if they are properly connected. In addition, they can (in theory) be stacked infinitely. Stacking generators also increases the shield's size, though this does have a maximum.
Although it may seem untrue, the weight of a block necessarily correspond to its strength. An example of this is the Titanium Block. Though much heavier than Obsidian Block, its strength is lower.
Rarity[]
The easiest material to get from a chest is Concrete: it can be acquired from nearly all chests. The rarest material from chests is Stone because it is only found in the Common Chest in very small amounts. The rarest blocks in the game are the chest blocks, with a 1/1000 chance to get a Legendary Chest Block from a Legendary Chest.
